My New Favourite Stack — Tanstack Start, Laravel, Postgres and Mantine

My Medium friends can read this story over on Medium.
Over the years I have worked on many personal projects and to be honest most of them went nowhere. However, I did learn an awful lot of stuff doing each project and I definitely wouldn’t be half the developer I am today without spending my personal time working on side projects. So I’m not too bitter about the lack of success of any of these projects.
It also makes me highly skeptical of those “Gurus “ online who tell you it’s so easy to make money on a side hustle. Maybe it is for some people but it certainly isn’t for me.
Recently though, and maybe a consequence of getting older, I am settling into a stack that I think gives me everything I need for a personal web project. That stack is:
- Frontend — Tanstack Start
- Component Library — Mantine.dev
- Backend — Laravel
- DB — Postgres
Reasons I Like This Stack
These are the main reasons I like this stack:
Frontend
The Frontend uses React which I have used for many a year. I really like React and I can be pretty productive in it. Tanstack Start gives you all that React goodness plus all the Tanstack goodness!
