AI in Software Development looks like it here to stay — for better or for worse — so if you want to stay in this game then you’re going to have to accept that.
Once you have gotten over all the emotional trauma this shift in the industry is causing then lets jump in to some of the more positive sides of using AI on the daily when working with Software.
Let’s be honest a second. How many times did you have the opportunity to write some tests when working on a feature but chose not to because of “time constraints” or “just going for the MVP”? How many times did that come back and bite you?
For unit tests especially, generative AI in Cursor or Claude Code is an absolute god send. “Please write unit tests for this function @functionNameGoesHere and test edge cases” and BAM! Tests written. Tests all passing. Edge cases accounted for. All tests have clear descriptions and titles. All in a couple of minutes.
